The Intensive Dementia Support Service (IDSS) is a crisis service for people with cognitive impairment and has successfully developed in the East of Somerset over the last 18 month. We are now seeking to set up the same service in the West of Somerset and are actively seeking to recruit a range of Registered Professionals and support staff.
In order to deliver this innovative way of working, we have created a really exciting opportunity for an individual to join our new team. You will have a genuine opportunity to help shape, formulate and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to develop your own professional portfolio.
You require an Occupational Therapy qualification. Experience of working in a community setting is desirable but not essential. You will work closely alongside the Band 6 Occupational Therapist and Mental Health Nursing colleagues to provide functional assessment of patients with dementia in their own homes.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their mental health experience whilst utilising their knowledge and skills around Occupational therapy.
You will have opportunity to develop and improve your risk assessment skills, use recognised assessment tools, be involved in the implementation of risk management plans, and to demonstrate the ability to react to the changing needs of our patients.
You will receive formal supervision and appraisal from the Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the team.
IDSS provides intensive support to patients and their families, 7 days a week between 8am and 8pm.The team is based in Taunton and serves will serve Minehead, Wellington, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham on Sea and Cheddar.
Due to these localities, to be considered for the role, it is important that you have the means to be able to visit these areas.
Before making an application, why not find out more about how this role this may benefit you by contacting the Team Manager:
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
