We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor (ST1-3) to join our paediatric team.
The posts would suit doctors either considering a career in paediatrics, general practice or an alternative specialty who wish to gain some paediatric experience to support their training.
The posts are for an immediate start until 31st July 2018. However, there may be the possibility of extension beyond this date if vacancies allow.
The postholders will work a 1:7 full shift rota on the general paediatric wards. The neonatal unit is covered on a separate rota 09:00-22:00 hours and primarily by the ST4 grade overnight. The ST1-3 grades hold the labour ward bleep supported by the ST4 grade overnight.
There are opportunities to attend clinics and gain experience on the post natal wards. If a successful candidate wished to spend a period of time working on the neonatal as their base unit, this could be arranged.
As part of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Musgrove Park Hospital is a 650 bed hospital that serves a population of 350,000, with an excellent reputation for providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and specialist services (including supra-regional) and an outstanding teaching environment. We are consistently highly rated in the GMC national training survey within the South West. In 2016 we had the highest number of positive green flags in the Severn region. In our 2016 CQC inspection, Musgrove was rated as ‘good’ overall with an ‘outstanding’ rating for care.
Nestled in the heart of Somerset, as the County town, Taunton has recently been named as one of the new ‘Garden Towns’, this combines the best of both town and country life in one place. Living here you will really get to experience life in the West Country.
If you like the outdoors, Taunton is straddled between areas of outstanding natural beauty and nearby there is the idyllic Exmoor National Park, so there is plenty to keep you occupied.
Taunton itself has a diverse range of shopping and restaurants and hosts a number of arts and food festivals and is home to the Somerset County Cricket Ground.
You can also take advantage of easy access to some of the UK’s most desirable locations, from the beaches of North Devon and Cornwall, to the cosmopolitan centres of Bristol, Bath, and Exeter.
