Trust grade – GENERAL MEDICINE (ST1/2 equivalent post)

We have a vacancy for a Clinical Fellow or Trust Grade doctor in General Medicine at ST1/2 level at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton commencing February 2018.

The post is for a ward-based ST1 / 2 level doctor caring for a winter acute medical ward with senior medical staff. It is envisaged that the ward’s caseload will be predominantly care of the elderly and general medicine with an emphasis on short stay patients if possible. It may also be possible to work in the Ambulatory Emergency Care centre – both of these are under the supervision of the Acute Medicine Department.

At present these posts are un-banded and are not recognised for higher training, but Taunton has an excellent reputation for training, particularly in Acute Medicine and we expect the post-holders to develop and enhance their skills during their tenure. Post holders should be able, subject to clinical pressure, to join the regular teaching program for our trainees (FT2 or CMT level as needed).  It is also anticipated that the posts will carry a regular education delivery component, for example for medical student or F1 teaching, dependent upon the successful applicant’s experience.

Experience of working in an NHS Acute Hospital is essential.
