Service Assistants (Cleaning/Catering), Band 2

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Service Assistant to work on our busy inpatient wards in Taunton, Somerset.

Pyrland Ward is a 28 bedded older persons hospital with two wards. We specialize in caring for people with mental health problems and challenging behavior. The post involves working shifts and weekends on a rotational basis.

Service Assistants within the hospital play a key role in our ongoing fight against hospital acquired infections by ensuring that the ward is cleaned on a regular basis to a consistently high standard and make a valuable contribution in the wider care team that supports a patient during their time in hospital. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for ensuring the provision of a clean, tidy, pleasant and friendly ward environment together with undertaking food and beverage preparation for our service users.

No previous experience is necessary as applicants will be fully trained in all requirements of the job. Candidates should have good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in their approach to the work demonstrating their ability to work using their own initiative and as part of a team. The candidate must be approachable, non-judgmental and sensitive to the issues faced by people with mental health problems.
