Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been commissioned by NHS England to provide a regional Forensic CAMHS (FCAMHS) service. FCAMHS will  be embedded in  our existing CAMHS services already delivering countywide Tier 1-4 and Regional T4 Services including a T4 generic adolescent inpatient unit.

The FCAMHS team will primarily be for complex forensic young people with comorbidities and complex needs.  The team will have links with the Somerset Adult Forensic service and the National FCAMHS team to ensure alignment with national thinking, best practice and training to drive ongoing development.

The team will support young people, their families/carers and local services. We aim to support young people in their communities through effective collaboration and risk management. In some cases the team will support transitions out of secure settings and back to their local communities and provide an outreach service to facilitate this.  The team will operate with a multi-disciplinary approach involving specialist mental health practitioners, a psychologist and psychiatrist to provide advice, consultation, specialist formulation and treatment. All team members will contribute to developing links across the region and facilitating specialist training to upskill local services.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic psychology assistant. Experience in supporting mental health and /or forensic services would be advantageous. The team will operate mainly core hours 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with travel across the region being an requirement of the post.

You will be supported through a specific training and induction programme.   If you:

  • Have the passion and experience
  • Are interested in providing evidence-based specialist assessments to young people and families.
  • Are interested in providing specialist support to colleagues across the region
  • Are a team player, who works collaboratively to support recovery.
  • Want to be part of developing services across the South West region.

Then please do apply for this post.
