An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist mental health practitioner to join  our  National Deaf CAMHS team. This team is a specialist community T4 service, commissioned by NHSE. There are only 6 teams Nationally and Somerset Partnership NHS Trust is proud to deliver the South West Regional part of this National Service. NDCAMHS is  embedded in our existing large CAMHS portfolio already delivering countywide services Tier 1-4, a T4 generic adolescent inpatient unit, and another Regional T4 Service ( Forensic CAMHS)

The team support young people, their families/carers and local services. We aim to support young people in their communities through effective collaboration, treatment and risk management. The team will operate with a multi-disciplinary approach involving community support workers, other specialist mental health practitioners, a psychologist and psychiatrist to provide advice, consultation, specialist formulation and treatment. All team members will contribute to developing links across the region and facilitating specialist training to upskill local services.

 We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual  with experience in mental health and experience or an interest in working with Deaf service users and their families.

The team will operate mainly core hours 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with travel across the region being a requirement of the post.

For this exciting post you will need the following:

  • Qualified and Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or Allied Health Professional
  • Experience of assessment and interventions  for children , young people and their families.
  • Experience of team work and contributing to service improvements.
  • Sound understanding of operational aspects of safeguarding children and young people
  • Experience of multi-agency working in CYPS
