 Mental Health and Learning Disabilities

Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, in collaboration with Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (SCCG) and NHS England, are developing a newly commissioned Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a developing service across the county delivering enhanced high quality care to women and their families during the perinatal period.

The Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team will provide assessment and support for women and families with complex and severe presentations. The team will have close links with the local and national networks to ensure alignment with national thinking, best practice and training to drive ongoing development.

For some families this work may involve providing support to prevent admission or support through transition into and out of mother and baby units. The team will operate from a multi-disciplinary approach with nursing, allied health professionals, psychology and psychiatry contributing to providing care and treatment plans.

As part of the development process the team are looking to recruit an enthusiastic social worker. The service will operate from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will need to have a relevant qualification and experience of working within the mental health sector. All team members will be supported in their ongoing professional development through a specific training and induction programme which will include access to specialist training. We also actively encourage applications from people with relevant lived experience.

Please apply for this post if you:

  • Are interested in providing evidence-based treatment to women and
  • families.
  • Have passion and enthusiasm for working within this speciality.
  • Have the skills to provide additional support when this is required.
  • Are a team player, who works collaboratively to support recovery.
  • Want to be part of developing practice across Somerset.
